Covering an area of 34km2, Carriacou is one of the islands of an archipelago that stretches from St Vincent to Grenada.
The main cities are Hillsborough, l'Esterre, Grand Bay, Harvey Vale and Windward.
Windward, in the north of the island, is known for the construction of traditional boats.
The population is very welcoming and likes to chat with tourists to share the love of their island.
All the beaches are public and often deserted. Here there are no big hotel complexes or mass tourism. You will feel at home !
The climate is sunny and warm with temperatures ranging from 23°C in winter to 30°C in summer. The water never drops below 25°C.
Currency : the Eastern Caribbean Dollar (EC$) is the official currency. It is tied to the US Dollar at approx. US$1.00 = EC$2.67
USD are widely accepted.
Seasons : The dry season usually runs from January to May. Prolonged rain is unusual. Hurricanes can occur in the Caribbean between June and October, but are rare in the Grenadines.
Electricity : 220 volts/50 Hz. AC transformers/adapters may be needed to fit the British type 13 amp, 3 pin sockets.
Clothing : Light casual clothes are the norm. It should be remembered that swimsuits or skimpy beach wear worn around town may offend local people.
Sunscreen : SPF 50 or above is recommended.
